The Ogobiri Centre in Sagbama Local Government Area played host to a thrilling encounter as two neighbouring teams, Akeddei FC and Barca FC, went head-to-head in a match that kept fans, spectators, and football enthusiasts on the edge of their seats.
The match, which kicked off at 3:10 PM under warm weather conditions, showcased the raw talent of young footballers. Akeddei FC took an early lead in the 15th minute when Bright Ebidimie (jersey no. 11) headed the ball into the net following an excellent assist from Wisdom Biye (jersey no. 10). Biye, who had previously shone as the man of the match against Okumbiri FC, once again proved his worth on the pitch.
The first half concluded with Akeddei FC holding onto their slim advantage as Barca FC struggled to find an equaliser.
The second half began with heightened intensity. Akeddei FC's Otuan Alamco (jersey no. 13) received a second yellow card after being warned for delaying substitution, leaving his side to battle with ten men. Despite this setback, the Akeddei side reinforced their lineup, introducing several players from the bench and ensuring a hard-fought contest. Barca FC made a few substitutions but failed to capitalise on their chances.
In the 78th minute, the tension peaked when Barca FC were awarded a penalty following an infringement in Akeddei's eighteen-yard box. Perediemo Ebike (jersey no. 11) coolly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper, levelling the score at 1-1.
With the scores deadlocked at full-time, the match progressed to penalties. Akeddei FC held their nerve to secure a 4-3 victory in the shootout, earning their place as winners of the Ogobiri Centre in the Sagbama Local Government Area for the Prosperity Cup 2025.
